Maria is not his stage name... lol
DANCE is an element of art that the ATL can’t deny. From our famous strip clubs to the mainstream clubs to the underground scene, rhythmic bodies (and booties) are what any nightlifer can look forward to while out and about in the city. fem-fATL likes to go to parties where the energy is alive, people look fashionably good but not that good that they can’t dance, and we loOoOve to dance the night away. We’re not Juliard Alumni… we’re just out having fun cuz that’s what we do best. However, we can definitely appreciate guys with some rythym, especially when they dance up on us. Even more, we can appreciate guys who don’t need a dance floor or a girl… and they still have rhythm. I’m talking about B-Boys who can throw it down in the middle of i75 during rush hour. lmao. jk (don’t do that) I’m talking about B-Boy QUIC. “Quic” comes from his fast running in track & field days and also represents his dancing! He took off the K because “it is not needed”. I am pretty sure he just could never spell it right… lol jk. We run in the same little circles, know all the same people, and go to all the same spots… he is DOPE in all aspects >>> dope dance moves, great personality, sense of humor, original fashion sense, a heart for charity, a drive for success and turning his love for dance into a money making endeavor… and uhm, ladies, he’s not bad on the eyes either! fem-fATL had to feature him as our first b-boy because he is A.R.T. Check ya boy out!
1- Who/what put you on to dance? What is Zulu? How did it come about? etc.
My sister put me on to dancing back in 96, she was heavy into it doing shows with her friends. She pretty much put me on to Hip Hop not knowing how far I was going to go with it. I left my dream of being an Olimpian track star and found a new passion of Breakin in 2000.
Zulu is the organization which birthed Hip Hop dated down by law Nov.12th 1973.
It was formed from the Black Spades which was one of NYC’s most notorious streets gangs & became the first people to represent Hip Hop as a culture regardless of race, gender or religion. We changed the world through dance, music, art, fashion & many other things which came from a place known to be damned to the rest of the world. A place we call the home of Hip Hop. The Bronx NYC.
Universal Zulu Nation now has over 500,000 members around the world & is a part of the United Nation. We are responsible for creating peace & opportunity worldwide.
Which all of this being said we owe it all to one man….Afrika Bambaatta

gang signs have really become unique, don't ya think? lol
2- What is it like dancing in ATL compared to other cities?
Dancing in the A is a high. We are one of few cities who still have dance clubs. There are only night clubs in NY & Miami. There is no MJQ there. as far as the dance scene I keep it underground. The youth & hunger of these Bboys/Bgirls poppers feed my soul.
I do have to leave frequently to get inspired though.
3- How does dancing influence your fashion (or vice versa)?
Dancing influences my attire tremendously, I dress for the Dj. Meaning if I know Mafioso is spinning I’m wearing white with a fresh brim & a feather colored to his music vibe.(he plays latin breaks & remixed classics) I can dance with the ladies or in the cipher. If Sol Messiah is spinning I’m wearing a track suit fresh kangol and the lightest sneakers with color so my feet can be scene. I know he will be playing Classic Hip Hop & uptempo breaks for me to dance to. Bboys & Gansters were the inventors of Street fashion & still with their classic style which has been imitated & water down we come up with newness all the time. If I am in a three piece suite best believe I’m still a b-boy. I love upscale fashion but must be who I am at all times. My fashion has been a influence to bboys & Bgirls in the A to be proud of who they are. As a Bboy you win the battle before you leave the house. We are stars & must remember that at all times.

This pic is so hott... love the bikes!
4- What is your favorite meal?
No such thing, I enjoy varieties of cultural foods I do not eat beef or pork & as much as I want to I do not eat seafood. But that does not mean I can’t cook it!
5- Can you date some one that CAN’T dance? or do you think opposites attract?
If you can walk you can dance. we learn to walk stumbling until we understand the rhythym, so yes.
Oh man yes again. I have only been with opposites which is great for new experiences but having a common balance would be nice! What’s my dream girl?My dream woman not girl would be a shorty who can understand & respect my lifestyle & choices. I also love a woman who is into fashion, music & food. Things which I live for. Can any of the ladies who read this holla at you? Of course, I’m not afraid of people.
Holla at him! —> www.facebook.com/quicrojas or www.myspace.com/bboyquic
6- What is the most embarrassing story that happened while you were dancing or performing that you have to share with all of us?
I was performing right before we went on the ABL tour while not sleeping for 3 days. I jumped off stage on to a Go Go box and in mid move I blanked out fell off stage put a whole in my leg & woke up 5 sec later jumped back on stage and finished my set before I relized what had happened.
Ever farted while in a move? yup during practice. A lot of straining sometimes, hahaha

He's so cool and cool air rises...
7- What other hobbies do you like? sports? I love track, basketball, handball, cooking, sex, designing clothes, thrift shopping, teaching, personal training, traveling, martial arts and I will save some for the date I can’t put it all out there yet! haha
8- Would you eat a fried camel’s balls to save yourself from losing the ability to dance? As long as it does not count as beef !
9- Would you let a male cow hit it in the back to save yourself from losing the ability to dance? That’s not my style of dancing or sex, I’d rather salsa in a wheel chair.
10- Would you impregnate a killer whale, two of them at the same time, to save yourself from losing the ability to dance? A threesome with two big females….why not challenge myself huh? Sike!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t hold my breathe under water long enough to bust.

I saw the Z for Zulu, did you?
LMAO… If anybody would like me to give them some perverted, beastiality-like predicaments… hit me up! I only charge $1.50 a pop. lol jk Anyways, be on the look out for Mr. Quic. If anyone is interested in learning how to dance, hit him up on facebook or myspace!

This interview is so awesome. I really dig how he said he dressed for the night depending on the DJ. I think that shows a lot of respect and taste. Keep up the freshness.
I’ve seen QUiC dance, and must I say he is one of the most talented individual I’ve met. Great spirit, soul, personality and energy ! Keep doing what you do best, doll. You deserve it all.
