Put a New Spring in Your Step with Healthier Hair for the New Season!!!

Straight Look

Straight Look

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, starting last week, we officially stepped into a new season which means new clothes, new colors, and even new hair!  Usually our hair tends to dry out from the winter season due to dryer climate, erratic temperature change, and excessive heat from your car and home.  The Spring calls for body, hair that flows, and moisturized locks.

Our hair is not necessarily defined by race or ethnicity but more so by texture.

Our hair is not necessarily defined by race or ethnicity but more so by texture.  And ultimately our texture defines what type of products we are able to use.  Usually the curlier the hair shaft, the dryer the hair and less elasticity due to the lack of natural oil from the scalp being able to penetrate from root to end.

Featured Products of the Week to Promote Moisture For Curlier Hair Types
For Curlier Hair Types: I have a fairly course texture of hair and its all natural (meaning no chemical enhancements to straighten my hair).  I recommend the Mizani Hair Care system this week.  Throughout all the seasons of the year, I find myself frustrated with maintaining moisture.  Mizani has been a great system to condition and moisturize not only my hair cuticle but also the inner cortex of the hair shaft.  Mizani has multiple systems, but I recommend the ThermaSmooth system for shampoo and conditioner.

After shampooing the hair, make sure to use the conditioner as a treatment by covering the hair with plastic wrap or a conditioning cap and sit under a dryer for ten minutes before rinsing out hair.  Once hair is rinsed, a good leave-in conditioner is the Mizani Cutting Solution which is really good for detangling the hair and rebalancing the pH system of the hair.

Once the hair is dry, part the hair evenly in four sections and apply Mizani’s Rose H20 for additional moisture.  After all previous processes, style appropriately. If you are the type that likes to style your hair with thermal designs such as a press or flat iron, ceramic or ionic is always the way to go because it smoothes the hair shaft evenly without excessively drying the hair.  Top of the line flat irons are FHI or CHI brand.  If the recession has truly hit your pockets, you can easily use a Gold-n-Hot or the Hot Tools line which can be found at your local beauty supply store.

Stay tuned next week for moisturization techniques on straighter textures……………..

Til then, *Smoochez*
