food, friends, and wine makes for a good time

Last Thursday, I did the unthinkable. I cleaned for close to 7 hours (no lie) to get my place looking spic and span for my friends who I finally invited over. I’m usually a complete slob and don’t let anybody in my place because it’s embarrassing. But after all the cleaning and some last minute decorating I was more than happy to have company over. Having dinner parties is one of my favorite things and I plan on doing it much more now that I have my life/place back in seemingly order (for the time being).

Dinner parties are a great way to spend quality with your friends. Nothing is better than drinks and good conversation! Throw you’re own little get together with these tips:

  1. Plan a theme for the food or snacks you prep. My last major dinner party was ‘Italian Summer’ and this recent one was more of a 4th meal finger food edition.
  2. Vino. Make sure to have enough to last a couple rounds. If there’s nothing better to do, drinking is always entertaining!
  3. Come up with activities to do around dinner like a casual photo shoot or performances. I torture my friends with my poetry recitals.
  4. Keep the attendance small and intimate so you can spend quality time with your guests rather than playing crowd manager.

  1. I’m glad i got to be one of the friends invited. I really enjoyed the champagne, strawberries, and those meatballs obviously. I’m pretty sure that 7 hours of cleaning was well worth it. Late night dinner party successful.
