club verona | mixed media breakdance experiment – April 29 | 6:30PM | free

clubverona

Please come out my short production (30 minutes) Club Verona next Wednesday, April 29th at 6:30PM at the DramaTech Theater at Georgia Tech. This is a digital performance research project I have been working on all this semester. It is co-directed by myself and DramaTech director Melissa Foulger.

Club Verona is an urban adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and a mixed-media performance. It combines urban elements of rap, spoken word, breakdance, and graffiti along with projection screens, 3d virtual worlds, and machinima. This adaption treats the battle scenes of Romeo and Juliet as breakdance battles between Tekstyles (Georgia Tech’s own breakdance crew) breakdancers and Second Life avatars. With this project we are testing audience perception of livenes and presence in mixed-media spaces.

Hope you come to check it out and show some support! Thanks.
