Octopus Tempura opens on September 25, 2009
Missing ATL artist Dosa Kim already? No worries… up and coming artist Brandon Sadler is here to fill your voids. With a similar asian inspired graphic design style and street art credibility Sadler is ready for the limelight. His one-man show Octopus Tempura will be opening 6-10PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2009 at the StudioPlex Lofts (659 Auburn Avenue | Pavillion 504-505 | Atlanta, GA 30312). Sadler will be showing a collection of new works as well as unveiling the massive Irwin street mural project.
I met Sadler during the summer at the WM Turner Gallery and have run into him always in artistic settings. The last time was during the last Castleberry Hill Art Stroll. He’s got a knack for being seen in the ATL art scene and is definitely one to watch. Fem-fATL is supportive.. we like the name of his show as well since we are on that sushi if you didn’t know by now!

Artist Brandon Sadler
Of his collection Sadler writes:
The work for “Octopus Tempura” was all created over the past two months. When working on a concise series I typically focus on a symbol or image to bring my concepts together. The octopus became a strong force of inspiration for me recently and I’ve incorporated it heavily in this body of work. For me the octopus embodies traits of seduction, temptation, mystery, adaptation, deception, strength, and a remarkable predator capability. I used these qualities of the octopus to represent and describe my ideas. This series comments on my internal relationship with myself, my relationships with women, and interactions with people in general. There is a strong but subtle sexual tone to the work. I’ve created a duality between the beautiful and grotesque to enhance its aesthetic value and captivate the viewer. Enjoy.
