I thought I would post that video on CNN as a reflection. I think it was a harmless protest. What erks me (like steve erkle) is the news reporter man. It's like he's holding back a laugh and he is setting the tone of the report as a joke. He also comes off like he touches little girls.

anyway. outtie.

I applaud the women protesting. They are fighting for equal rights and more greatly for new conceptions about the body. To me the important thing about the campaign is bringing to attention the way we think about sex and our bodies. This is a tough battle. First because we aren't use to seeing boobs out and about, there is this stigma to the image. My mind associates the image with 'pornographic' not 'protest' and despite their intentions, the women seem reduced to sexual objects, which does not help their movement (but it does bring to attention that we think this way). All I see are the boobs, not the signs. But if we saw boobies more, maybe we would not make those associations or reduce the female body into sexual objects. It doesn't seem like a topless protest is really the best way to go about making a difference on this issue, but I'm not sure what the best approach would be.

Boobs are a feminine thing and I LOVE MY BOOBIES (voice of the Water Boy), but like justB I wouldn't capitalize on this equality... sorry. lol

lol. best part of going abroad is sitting in a coffee shop, hearing people laugh, and then *plop*, the mammaries join the conversation and the convo continues as normal with the extra guest(s).

America, why art thou so shrewd? It's the stigmas that eff everything up - from AIDS, to gays/lesbians, to ADDHD, to stereotypes based on color of skin, to socioeconomic status (or lack there of) - people can't just be seen as human?

i hope that's not too much to ask for, cause then maybe you'd open your eyes to taking care of your women like they're supposed to be (NOT as trophies, punching bags or sex toys) and intervening to truly give aide where it's due, e.g. health disparities, growing rift between the classes (they exist).
